Now in Florida-H/J Stallion Prospect Ready to Show
Just shy of his fourth birthday, Fidelio is now in Florida in training with the European Grand Prix rider, John Brown, of Braveheart Farms. He is being brought along slowly and carefully with an eye to a long-term career. Showing off his athleticism and trainability, he is jumping small courses with confirmed lead changes. He will debut with John in the show ring in 2009 and will be prepared for the stallion approvals.
Fidelio has three excellent gaits. A trot that is balanced, supple and buoyant, an abundant canter stride that is trademark "Holsteiner" with its loft and power, and a walk that is flowing with significant overstep. His character is kind, tractable, willing...a gentleman. His mind is unflappable with a confidence and self-assurance that surpasses his years.
His conformation is correct and modern, with significant bone, large joints, lovely topline with powerful hindquarters and a strong, supple back. With two half-brothers (same dam) already approved and both proven improvement sires, this son of Torino is a serious stallion prospect.
His pedigree is a virtual "who's who" of the showjumping world and of today's most sought after European bloodlines, even in Europe - Heartbreaker, Cassini I, Nimmerdor, Cor de la Bryere, Calypso II. He combines three proven nicks which have been proven time and again at the highest levels of the show jumping world ... Corde-Capitol, Capitol-Nimmerdor and perhaps most importantly, the highly sought after Capitol-Caletto II nick. This nick has produced many of today's showjumping phenoms including Dobel's Cento, Cumano, Eurocommerce Berlin and Indoctro among others. This special colt jumps with the power and technique trademark of his lineage.
Fidelio's sire, Torino (Heartbreaker-Cassini I), is proving himself as a top producer as a sire and a high-level competition horse. Currently competing on the East Coast jumper circuit, Torino is combining power, scope, technique and a willingness to work that is attracting attention from international riders of the highest caliber. He will debut at Grand Prix in 2009.
To ensure his long-term soundness, health and ability to live life as a stallion on circuit, Fidelio has spent his formative years being just another horse in a herd, living in pasture 24-7. And although he has been raised as a stallion prospect, his temperament is easy going and he is easy to have around (he is stabled/transported with all other horses), he can be gelded upon request.
